ELWINE KASCHNER PUBLISHES FOR WOLTERS KLUWER - Part II

Our senior paralegal, human resources manager and training manager, Elwine Kaschner, recently published a German-language article on the topic of unitypatent on behalf of Wolters Kluwer:

„Frischer Wind in der Patentwelt – Herausforderung für Ausbildung und Formalsachbearbeitung" ("Fresh air in the patent world - challenge for training and formalities").

THREE MEDALS AGAIN

We have a reason to celebrate: WTR 1000 (World Trademark Review) has honored us again this year. The entire firm and Detlef von Ahsen were awarded bronze. Christian Thomas received silver. Click here to view the award.

K&W TAKES A MENTORING ROLE

Last Monday, the annual celebration of the Deutschlandstipendium TUM took place at the Garching campus.

Martin Erhardt was present as a representative of Kuhnen & Wacker and as Tobias Bratrich's mentor. Martin Erhardt will assist and support his stipendiary in all matters related to Patents, Intellectual Property and Mechanical Engineering. 

We are glad we have the opportunity to make a small contribution to the success of the Deutschlandstipendium program.

EPO NEWS

The EPO will increase its fees ahead of schedule with effect from 1 April 2023 (instead of the usual 2-year intervals).

EPO NEWS

At its 173rd meeting on 13 December 2022, the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organisation decided to extend an invitation to accede to the European Patent Convention (EPC) to the Republic of Moldova.
Before acceding to the EPC, the Republic of Moldova will need to enact national legislation to facilitate its implementation and application.
Moldova is expected to become the 40th contracting state to the EPC.

As widely known by now, the start of the Sunrise Period has been postponed to March 1, 2023. The Unitary Patent Court Agreement (UPCA) will therefore enter into force on June 1, 2023.

However, the date for the start of transitional measures offered by the EPO remains unchanged despite the postponement of the start of the Sunrise Period.

Early requests for unitary effect and requests for deferral of the decision on grant can therefore still be filed from January 1, 2023 on.

EPO NEWS: EPO SETS START OF TRANSITIONAL MEASURES TO 1 JANUARY 2023

Aligning with the recently published implementation roadmap published by the Unified Patent Court (UPC), the EPO has decided to adjust the starting date of its transitional measures for filing early requests for unitary effect and filing requests for a delay in issuing the decision to grant a European patent to 1 January 2023.

The measures are applicable until the entry into operation of the Unitary Patent Protection system which is expected to be on 1 April 2023.
