Biochemistry/Biotechnology

Modern biotechnology integrates natural science and engineering with the intent of technically exploitating organisms, cells and/or parts thereof,  as well as molecular analogues thereof. Recently, singular and not clearly defineable sub-categories have been forming. Kuhnen & Wacker has a comprehensive staff of interdisciplinary specialists for protecting innovations in the following fields, such as, e.g.

  • Production of pharmaceuticals (red/medical biotechnology) (Dr. Sterthaus, Dr. Kühbeck)
  • Plant protection agents/agriculture/microbiology/gene technology (green biotechnology) (Dr. Kühbeck)
  • Biotechnological production of industrial chemicals/biochemical engineering (white biotechnology) (Dr. Sterthaus, Dr. Kühbeck)

A prominent sub-category of biotechnology, the so-called grey biotechnology, requires multidimensional thinking in the fields of natural sciences and engineering, in particular in the fields of chemical engineering and mechanical engineering. This sub-category comprises e.g. the following special fields:
