History of the Firm

Foto von Rainer A. Kuhnen After having graduated from the Technical University of Munich with a degree in mechanical engineering and aerospace technology and becoming a patent attorney, Rainer Andreas Kuhnen founded a patent attorney's practice in Freising in 1974. Even then the historic university town in the north of Munich was a growing area. The Munich airport is – to our clients' benefit – in immediate vicinity.

Foto von Paul-Alexander WackerPaul-Alexander Wacker graduated from the Technical University of Munich with a degree in electrical engineering and also with a degree in economics. He became a patent attorney in 1975.

With beginning of the year 1976 both attorneys founded their joint firm "KUHNEN & WACKER" in Freising.

This brought about an outstanding synergy which quickly led to national and international reputation. Expanding business required constant additions of resources by taking on attorneys in all fields of technology.

Today, KUHNEN & WACKER has become a synonym of quality and a service mark of world-wide reputation for a globally oriented professional corporation incorporating many attorneys and scientists in all fields of technology, supported by well-experienced and professionally working staff members allowing prompt responses to all needs of our clients.

On March 3, 2000, KUHNEN & WACKER concluded a contract with yet2.com for a strategic partnership for providing support in the field of intellectual property rights to yet2.com and their member companies. yet2.com is one of the leading global internet agencies which offers a market place for technologies of leading international companies. Our office building in FreisingHaving previously been split up in two office locations, KUHNEN & WACKER moved in September 2001 to a new large office building at Prinz-Ludwig-Straße 40A in Freising. This gave the firm the possibility it needed to further expand.

This building originally served as an officers' club of the Bavarian Army in the 19th Century and has been completely renovated as historical monument, however tailored to our needs inside. It will thus allow us to maintain our Corporate Identity as it has been known to our visitors for many years.
